We hope you find the information below useful. If you have any queries, please contact the OCR Customer Support Centre on 01223 553998 or support@ocr.org.uk. With best wishes Customer Support Team Internal assessment support and guidanceWe provide full guidance on administering non-exam assessment for general qualifications and Cambridge Nationals on our website. Subject-specific guidanceAdditional guidance to help you administer the internal assessments for specific subjects is also available on our website:
Support for teachersTo support teachers with the administration and assessment of moderated units and components, we have free online training courses available via our teacher website Teach Cambridge. These cover all aspects of marking and administration, with example work and assessor commentary. Teachers can visit Teach Cambridge and find links to subject-specific online courses under ‘Training’ in the left hand menu. Check your email addressFor most qualifications we use email to send sample requests. It’s therefore essential the email address we hold for your centre is correct. This is the address which is held on the JCQ National Centre Number register: [email address suppressed] We can only hold one email address per centre and this is used for all communication with your centre. So, please don't change this address unless you want to change it for all exams office communications. If you have any questions, or need to update your email address, please send your amendments to ncn@ocr.org.uk as an attachment on centre-headed paper. Check your moderation methodThe entry option selected when making your entries tells us the moderation method you’ve chosen – the entry codes are available in the entry codes booklets. Before you submit your marks, please check you’re happy with the moderation method (and therefore entry option) you’ve selected. You can submit candidate work for moderation via post or upload to OCR using the OCR Repository. For further guidance, see our website. Uploading your candidate work is a perfect way to avoid any possible disruption in the postal service, and it allows you to keep your students original work safely. If you need to change the entry option, please do it before you submit your marks so you don't get two separate sample requests. There's no charge for changing your method of moderation. Submitting candidate work via Submit for AssessmentIf you’re submitting work for Cambridge Nationals you can use our new digital submission service Submit for Assessment – designed to improve your experience when uploading and submitting candidate work. Take a look at our step-by-step instructions. It doesn't matter whether you've made entries for postal moderation or the OCR Repository, you can use Submit for Assessment without changing your entries to submit your samples of work – you can do this from 2 May. Submit for Assessment will eventually replace the OCR Repository for all qualifications. Reviews of centre-assessed marksRemember, before you submit your centre marks to us, you need to inform candidates of their centre-assessed marks (and endorsement grades) as a candidate can request a review of your centre’s marking. Please refer to the following JCQ documents: Mark submission deadlinesPlease submit your marks to OCR by the following deadlines:
You don’t need to wait until the deadlines as these are the last dates when all marks must be received. You can submit your marks at any time from now. Make sure you keep a copy of the marks for your records. You don't need to send a copy of the marks to your moderator, except for GCSE, AS and A Level Physical Education practical performances where you must provide a copy of your marks to the moderator. Completing forms for internal assessmentYou can download the forms required to mark and administer candidate work from our ‘forms finder’ and Teach Cambridge. Candidate authenticationEach candidate must sign a declaration before submitting their work to their teacher to confirm the work is their own and any assistance given and/or sources used have been acknowledged – a sample can be downloaded from our website. These statements should be retained within the centre until all reviews of results, malpractice and appeals issues have been resolved. Subject-specific candidate authenticationSpecific candidate authentication forms must be submitted with the centre sample for:
Centre authentication (form CCS160)Teachers must declare the work submitted for internal assessment is the candidate’s own work by completing a centre authentication form (CCS160) for each unit/component. These must be kept within your centre until all post-results services have been resolved. This also applies to private candidates. These should also be kept within the centre until all reviews of results, malpractice and appeals have been resolved. NEA centre declaration formFor the following qualifications, your head of centre needs to confirm your centre has followed the regulatory requirements involving non-exam assessment (NEA), by returning the NEA centre declaration form to us by 15 May 2023:
Submitting marks and gradesThere are two methods of submitting marks and grades to OCR:
Submitting practical endorsement gradesYou need to submit grades for the A Level Sciences and GCSE (9-1) English Spoken Language practical endorsements by 15 May in the same way you submit marks. Instead of entering a mark, you select the grade – either P or NC (Pass or Not Classified) for the Sciences or P, M, D or NC (Pass, Merit, Distinction or Not Classified) for English. Candidates who fail to reach the minimum standard will be ‘Not Classified’ and this will also be recorded on the certificate. Legacy Cambridge Nationals: reduction in assessment from 2021/22If you have candidates who used reduction in assessment for moderated units in 2021/22, for those units where you are reducing the assessment, please submit 'Absent' instead of a mark. Do not submit '0' for these units. You can read more about the reduction in assessment process for candidates certificating in June 2023 in our FAQ and on our website.
Sample requestsOnce the moderation period is underway and we receive your marks, we’ll email you sample requests from no-reply@ocr.org.uk. If you're part of a consortium, we'll wait until we've received marks from each centre before sending a sample request. You will normally receive a sample request within one to two days of submitting your marks. The earliest you’ll receive a request is 2 May 2023 (or 21 March for GCSE, AS and A Level Physical Education). All samples must be submitted within three working days of receiving the sample request. Guidance on how to submit work can be found on the internal assessment page of our website. Sending your samples successfully
Sample request exceptionsGCSE English Language spoken language endorsementYou will not receive a sample request for this. Instead, you should select the sample as described on our website and submit by the mark submission deadline (15 May). Don't forget, you need to include samples from different teachers/teaching groups where possible. Physical Education practical performancesFor Entry Level, GCSE, AS and A Level Physical Education practical performances, your moderator will contact you about the sampling process. There's detailed guidance and timelines on the moderation process for Physical Education in the following Guide to non-exam assessment documents:
Consortia arrangementsIf you will be operating as a consortium in the June 2023 series and have submitted your JCQ consortium arrangements form to us, you should have received a communication from our moderation team. If you haven’t heard from us, please contact us at support@ocr.org.uk. |
