Food Safety Course Now Available

Grocery stores encounter just as many types of food safety scenarios as restaurants. So why are most food safety training programs designed with only restaurants in mind?

"It's not safe," says IGA Coca-Cola Institute Learning Services Director Ana Velázquez. "Grocery stores present unique, complex challenges that often differ from those seen in restaurants. For example, various departments serve or prepare food, and each department comes with their own risks and opportunities for food-borne pathogens to spread."

The Institute has partnered with StateFoodSafety, a food safety training and certification organization, to bring independent retailers a new food handler course designed specifically for grocery stores at a discounted rate. The organization works with health departments nationwide to ensure that their training meets their requirements, and as a result, is the most-approved provider of food handler training in the United States. They are the exclusive training provider for several large grocery and food retail chains.

With this opportunity, stores can receive the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accreditation while educating their teams on real-life scenarios.

This course uses training tools engineered expressly for grocery stores and offers three proctoring options:

  1. Remote
  2. Employer-provided
  3. Testing center access

Students can take training and exams on any device in one of two time-saving ways: via the browser or the mobile app Go.Learn. Students can enroll in the course and pay online. If your store has a high volume of enrollments, a special account can be setup for monthly billing.

Both options offer fast loading and maximum reliability.

Give your store’s team members the know-how to keep departments compliant and safe with StateFoodSafety’s ANSI-accredited, grocery-specific food handler training.
