The B11 LMSS™, Licensed Machinery Safety Specialist, qualification is a five-module online training course that sets out the key aspects of designing and implementing machinery safety solutions. This course will equip you to protect lives and will serve to demonstrate your professional competence portfolio.
By joining forces with the B11 Standards, Inc., the leaders of machinery safety for American National Standards and the knowledge of the in-house safety team at Fortress, they are able to offer the only certified safety course based solely on US Standards and Regulations.
What is the BM11 LMSS™?
The B11 LMSS™ is a training course that covers a plethora of topics, introducing you to US legislation, regulations, and standards in the field of machinery safety and diving into the intricacies of risk reduction. Throughout the five modules a team of experts will guide you through the process of developing your expertise in US machinery safety and gaining exposure to a number of important US safety standards.
Following successful completion of the LMSS™ examination you will receive a certificate issued by B11 Standards, Inc, the ANSI-accredited Standards Developing (ASD) organization that administers the process through which the ANSI B11 series of American National Standards and Technical Report on machine / machine tool / machinery safety are developed and approved.
As a B11 Licensed Machinery Safety Specialist you will have a qualification that demonstrates your knowledge of US machinery safety standards and your ability to carry out risk assessment, select risk reduction measures and design safe control systems.
What does the BM11 LMSS™ course consist of?
- Module 1
Takes B11.0 Safety of Machinery as its subject matter and focuses on the risk assessment process. It will also introduce attendees to US legislation, regulations and standards in the field of machinery safety. - Module 2
Looks at B11.19 and the Risk Reduction Measures is the subject matter. - Module 3
Delves into B11.26 and the Application of ISO 13849 – Safe Control Systems. - Module 4
Covers the growth in automation and robotics has brought the Safety Requirements for the Integration of Machinery into a System – B11.20, along with Robot Safety Standards. - Module 5
Addresses LOTO and Alternative Methods, as per Z244.1 and NFPA 79 – Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery. - Final Examination
90-minute online open book test (50 multiple-choice questions, 10 per module, 80% passmark)
