The last two years have delivered more profits for independent grocers than ever before, yet have also strengthened existing challenges even as new ones have emerged.

"We'll be addressing all of the big challenges you're seeing: labor and hiring issues, implementing eCommerce and digital advertising, and differentiating from the big chains," says IGA CEO John Ross of the Global Rally virtual conference. "And we'll be showing you real-world examples of IGA programs in action so you can increase sales—that's what the Rally is all about."

Mark your calendars and register today for the premier event that is tailor made for all independent retailers—IGA members or not—to overcome these challenges and embrace opportunities to differentiate and succeed. Keep reading for the just-released agenda.

Peek Inside the Store of IGA's International Retailer of the Year

While nothing can replace the value of having the IGA family from around the globe join together in person, there are some benefits to a virtual Rally beyond keeping attendees safe.

"What a gift it is to be able to show other independents the best our community has to offer," says IGA CEO John Ross of the opportunity to broadcast from inside Geissler's Supermarket IGA, which is run by the most recent winner of IGA's International Retailer of the Year Bob Rybick. Bob and his team have built a lasting legacy of local ownership and community commitment through their work at Geissler’s IGA. They're truly leading the way with the intimate, intensely local experiences shoppers want,” Ross continues.

That means showing off some of IGA's newest and most successful programs and tools, like the National Digital Ad, labor solutions, Quarterly Marketing Kit, and everything retailers can do to highlight their local points of difference.

“Because people can actually see our programs at work in the store, I think Rally attendees will walk away with better context for how those same programs can work for their store.” –IGA CEO John Ross

Another important opportunity? Anyone who wants to attend can do so at no cost.

“We’re really excited to be able to reach down into our partner companies and the stores both domestically and globally and engage people who wouldn’t normally have an opportunity to attend a Rally, but we’re also excited to get our message out beyond our members,” Ross says. “IGA has a lot to offer right now, and we’re opening the door to anyone and everyone who wants to learn more about the largest group of independent retailers in the world and the brand that supports them. If your business involves grocery retail, this Rally is going to benefit you.

IGA GLOBAL RALLY 2021

Virtual Conference Agenda

Meet IGA's International Retailer of the Year Bob Rybick

IGA CEO John Ross and Geissler's Supermarkets IGA President & CEO and International Retailer of the Year Bob Rybick will share insights about how COVID-19 has changed shopper behavior with a shift toward local community stores. They will also discuss programs that have helped Rybick and his team through the past two years, like eCommerce, IGA's digital circular, and Local Equals Fresh branding and signage.

Keynote: Challenges & Opportunities for Independent Grocers in COVID & Beyond

What lasting impact will the pandemic have on independent retailers' businesses and the next generation of shoppers? How can we earn and keep the sales we’ve gained? IGA CEO John Ross addresses the challenges and opportunities for independent grocers now and post-COVID, while sharing the strategy IGA has developed to drive sales and educate retailers on new shopper trends.

How Local Equals Fresh Drives Sales

With shoppers craving local produce, meats, and goods, grocers must create a local point of difference that helps them stand out from chain competition in their area while supporting local shoppers and communities. In this in-store session, we'll demonstrate how the Local Equals Fresh branding drives sales through various platforms, from in-store QR codes that link to digital ads, stickers that tell shoppers what was made in-house, and opportunities to highlight local partnerships on social media.

How to Save Money with Market Analysis

Grocery store owners used to live and breathe by their weekly print ad, but times have changed. While there may still be a place for print, retailers must assess the effectiveness of all their media investments. In this session, learn how IGA's Market Analysis delivers an accessible analysis that illustrates where money is being wasted and where retailers can invest in more effective and efficient advertising—therefore saving money—while attracting more shoppers to stores, whether in person or online.

Beating National Competitors Through Digital Programs

Explore how IGA's digital programs have helped Geissler's compete with nearby national chains. See how IGA's National Digital Ad is promoted in-store and online, helping each store get the most out of every ad period with promotional tactics. See first hand the value eCommerce brought to Geissler's shoppers during the pandemic and now, and how it works, from picking to the delivery process, and how other retailers can get shoppers engaged in using both programs.

A Minute with Bozzuto's: Supply Issues & Private Label

With supply issues impacting everything from prices to stock, shoppers and retailers are stressed. What's a retailer to do? In this session, hear from Bozzuto's Executive Vice President George Motel as he shares how they have worked with their retailers to overcome supply chain issues ranging from national brands to IGA Exclusive Brands.
