The Florida State Fair is so much more than rides, midway food and livestock exhibitions. Last year the State Fair had more 450,000 visitors, many of whom came to see the various exhibits on display, including artwork
from the most talented students across the state!

The Art Portfolio Contest for High School Seniors is the highlight of the Fair’s Youth Art Competitions. Out of 301 students from 84 schools in 24 counties that entered their portfolios, only 32 student portfolios were chosen by our panel of jurors to exhibit their work at the 2021 Florida State Fair. This year, one of those students is a Tampa Prep 2D Art student, Caden Schmidt '21.

The competition, sponsored by Florida Dairy Farmers, awards $5,000 in scholarship money to 12 high school seniors. The first prize of $1500, second prize of $1000 and 10 awards of merit for $250 will be awarded at this year’s fair in February.

Thirty-eight students were chosen to have their work displayed on the Wall of Excellence.

Below are some of the works that Caden submitted for the contest.
